Our Founder's Story

DMV Spectrum Support Circle was born from a deeply personal journey. After navigating the early stages of my child’s development, I remember the moment I was told that my son was showing signs of autism. I cried tears — unsure if I was feeling relief that I had successfully advocated for my child, or fear of stepping into unknown territory in both diagnosis and parenthood.

In that moment, everything shifted.

Between appointments, evaluations, and trying to understand unfamiliar terminology, I quickly realized how overwhelming and isolating the process could feel. I didn’t just need information — I needed community. I needed a space where my questions were understood, my emotions were valid, and I didn’t have to explain the weight of it all.

From that moment, it lit a fire in me to ensure that no parent or caregiver would have to navigate this journey alone. I envisioned a community built to walk alongside families — whether they are in the earliest stages of a diagnosis or years into their experience.
